Follow-up Briefing on People’s Military Service Law Held in Pinlaung Township

A follow-up briefing on the People’s Military Service Law was held at 10:30 a.m. today, August 6, in Moe Nell village, Lwe Maw village tract, Naungtayar town, Pinlaung Township, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, Special Region (6), southern Shan State.
The briefing was attended by Pinlaung Township Deputy Administrator U Sein Hla Maung, Pinlaung Township Law Officer Daw Thawta Min Htun, Information and Public Relations Officer Daw Mu Myat Saw, Pinlaung Township Management Committee member U Khun Htun Aye, village tract and village administrators, and community elders.
At the event, Deputy Administrator U Sein Hla Maung gave opening remarks and explained the background to the enactment of the People’s Military Service Law, the purposes of conscription, and related legal details.
Information and Public Relations Officer Daw Mu Myat Saw then further explained exemptions from military service and the rights and benefits of those who serve.
Law Officer Daw Thawta Min Htun then explained in detail the purpose of conscription, the importance of national defense and family security, and the relevant provisions of the law. She also warned residents to avoid drug use, drug trafficking and gambling, and stated that violations of the law would be dealt with in accordance with existing legislation.
She also noted that poppy cultivation is not legally permitted and should be avoided, and gave awareness talks urging residents to be alert to the dangers of human trafficking and related crimes, and to take part in prevention efforts.
Pinlaung Township Management Committee member U Khun Htun Aye then further explained the above legal matters in the Pa-O language, to make them easier for local residents to understand.
In addition to raising awareness of the People’s Military Service Law, the briefing also covered plans to carry out local development projects as quickly as possible.
