Outstanding Students Honored at Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Leading Body Hall in Hopong

An honors ceremony for outstanding students who excelled in the 2025-2026 academic year’s university entrance exam and the Industry, Agriculture and Livestock university entrance exam was held at 10 a.m. today, July 13, at the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Leading Body Hall in Hopong, Special Region (6).

At the ceremony, students from Basic Education High School No. 1 performed the song “Myanmar School Opening.” Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Leading Body Chairman U Khun Phoe Sein then gave opening remarks, saying education is the foundation for regional development and urging outstanding students to continue contributing to the country and their region.

Officials also reported that, of 1,928 students who sat the university entrance exam in the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, 939 passed, a pass rate of 48.70%, producing 187 students with distinctions. Combining the university entrance exam with the Industry, Agriculture and Livestock university entrance exam across 13 examination centers, 1,004 of 2,016 candidates passed, a pass rate of 49.80%, producing 215 students with distinctions — 1 with six distinctions, 3 with five, 9 with four and 28 with three, totaling 41.

Hopong Township’s Industry, Agriculture, Livestock and Basic Education High School (Branch) in Paunglin achieved a 73.86% pass rate, producing 30 students with distinctions including one with six distinctions, along with two national Top Ten students and students placing in the southern Shan region’s Top Ten.

Officials then presented honors awards to the outstanding students who excelled in the 2025-2026 academic year’s university entrance exam and the Industry, Agriculture and Livestock university entrance exam.

A student then delivered a vote of thanks on behalf of the award winners, and students from Basic Education High School (2) performed the closing song “Zati Man,” after which attendees took a group photo.

The honors ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, the Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Leading Body of Hopong, the acting principal of the Defense Services Computer and Technology Institute, regional and township-level officials, teachers, distinction-winning and outstanding students, and parents.
