New Year Commemorative Football Tournament Opens in Loi Hsan Hset Village, Hsihseng Township

A New Year commemorative football tournament opened at 10 a.m. today, March 27, 2026, in Loi Hsan Hset village, Palawpagalay village tract, Hsihseng Township, Special Region (6), Pa-O Self-Administered Zone.

At the opening ceremony, athletes entered and took their positions on the field, followed by a salute to the national flag and the Pa-O national flag and the singing of the Pa-O national anthem. Organizing Committee Chairman Hpa Hseung then gave opening remarks, followed by remarks from Hsihseng Township State Hluttaw Representative Hpa Khun Than Htun, and further remarks from Hsihseng Township General Administration Officer U Aung San Oo and Palawpagalay village tract Administrator U Khun Hla Htun.

Organizing Committee Secretary U Khun Htun Ti then read out the tournament rules, after which the athletes recited the sporting oath. Township Sports and Physical Education Department Township Sports Officer U Zaw Tun then presented sporting equipment on behalf of the organizing committee.

The athletes then left the field, and Loi Hsan Hset and Pwe Han Kha, the two teams playing in the opening match, took their positions. Invited special guests and organizing committee members welcomed the players, Pa-O beauty queens presented flower garlands to the athletes, and the organizing committee chairman kicked off the match.

Loi Hsan Hset defeated Pwe Han Kha 4-0. Six matches were played on the opening day, and from March 28 onward, 10 matches will be played daily across two fields, five matches per field.

A total of 100 teams are competing in the tournament — 90 in the junior division and 10 in the senior division. The organizing committee will award 5,000,000 kyats for first place and 3,000,000 kyats for second place in the senior division, and 3,000,000 kyats for first place and 2,000,000 kyats for second place in the junior division.
