Electricity Switch-On Ceremony Held in Phayakyaing Village Under Shan State Government’s 100-Day Plan

An electricity switch-on ceremony was held today, July 31, in Phayakyaing village, Palawpagalay village tract, Hsihseng Township, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone, southern Shan State, marking the arrival of electricity under the Shan State Government’s 100-Day Plan for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister U Sai Htein Zaw, Security and Border Affairs Minister Brig-Gen Sein Win, Planning, Economy and Finance Minister Dr. La Hsaing, Electricity, Energy, Industry and Transport Minister U Khun Than Htoo, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Leading Body Chairman U Khun Phoe Sein, Shan State Electric Power Distribution Enterprise State Electrical Engineer U Zaw Min Htun, state, district and township-level departmental officials, and local villagers.

Shan State Government ministers in attendance cut the ribbon to open the electrification gateway and posed for commemorative photographs.

In the second part of the program, Chief Minister U Sai Htein Zaw gave opening remarks, and State Electrical Engineer U Zaw Min Htun explained details about bringing electricity to Phayakyaing village and the switch-on ceremony.
A local representative then delivered a vote of thanks, and State Electrical Engineer U Zaw Min Htun presented commemorative gifts to the Chief Minister.

Village representatives also presented local products as gifts to the Chief Minister and guests.
Chief Minister U Sai Htein Zaw and officials then went to the designated ceremonial spot and pressed the switch to turn on the electricity. Afterward, the Chief Minister, guests, officials and local residents took a group photo, and the ceremony concluded successfully.
