Meeting With Farmers Near Mongpan and at Chokan Monastery; Seeds, Fertilizer and Farm Equipment Distributed

The Loilin Township Department of Agriculture held a meeting with farmers, distributed seeds, seedlings, fertilizer and farm equipment, and conducted field visits near Mongpan town and at Chokan monastery, southern Shan State, for the 2026-2027 fiscal year.

The field visit was led by Loilin District Administration Committee Chairman U Kyi Myint, State Hluttaw Representative U Khun Thet Naing and officials, beginning this morning. At 10:30 a.m. they inspected farming operations in the Konhay area west of Mongpan, and at 11:30 a.m. they conducted a field visit to check paddy cultivation in the farmland of Sinchephon village tract east of Mongpan. At 1 p.m. they paid respects with an offering letter to Mingalar Oo monastery’s abbot, Bhaddanta Thuriyandhaja, and officials inspected the status of the monastery’s land grant application, along with requirements for paving about 3 furlongs of road from Mongpan-side milepost 1/155.

The ceremony was held at Chokan monastery at 1:45 p.m., where Loilin District Administration Committee Chairman U Kyi Myint gave opening remarks and State Hluttaw Representative U Khun Thet Naing delivered greetings. Loilin District Agriculture Department District Officer U Myo Min Than explained the practices farmers should follow regarding correct farming techniques, reducing chemical fertilizer use, improving soil quality, and applying the bokashi composting method.

Loilin District Department of Rural Development and Land Records Assistant Director U Thet Zaw Hsan then explained the Farmland Law and its regulations to farmers. Seeds, seedlings, fertilizer and farm equipment were then distributed to farmers to help their farming run smoothly and improve crop yields. The event was attended by farmers and residents from Chokan, Kaungnwe and nearby villages, along with officials from relevant departments.
