The new Premier League 2026-27 season will begin on Friday, August 21, with defending champions Arsenal hosting newly-promoted Coventry City at Emirates Stadium in the traditional opening match.
The rest of the opening weekend fixtures include, on Saturday, August 22: Hull City vs Manchester United, Everton vs Crystal Palace, Ipswich vs Sunderland, Nottingham Forest vs Leeds United, and Brentford vs Tottenham. On Sunday, August 23, Brighton vs Aston Villa and Manchester City vs Bournemouth will be played. The headline match of that day is Newcastle United, expected to challenge for a Champions League spot, hosting Liverpool. The opening weekend concludes on Monday, August 24 with Fulham vs Chelsea.
Defending champions Arsenal will open the new season at home, while Manchester City — featuring last season’s Golden Boot winner Erling Haaland — are expected to try to reclaim the title.
