79th Union Day Football Tournament for the Township Administrator’s Cup Held in Kyauktalonegyi

A football tournament for the Township Administrator’s Cup, marking the 79th Union Day, opened at 10 a.m. today, January 27, in Kyauktalonegyi, Taunggyi Township, southern Shan State.

At the opening ceremony, a brass band led the competing teams onto the field, followed by a salute to the Union of Myanmar flag and the Pa-O national flag, recitation of the four sporting pledges, opening remarks by Special Region (6) PNO-Transformed People’s Militia (Local) Security Committee Vice-Chairman Hpa Khun Peter Htun Naing, remarks by the Chairman of the 79th Union Day Commemorative Football Tournament Organizing Committee, distribution of sporting equipment by the Township Sports and Physical Education Department, and the teams’ departure led again by the brass band, which then returned to the field to perform an honorary display and receive a prize from the organizing committee.

Pa-O beauty queens then presented flower garlands to the players of both teams, and organizing committee members and special guests invited for the occasion warmly welcomed the athletes.

A total of 33 teams are taking part in the tournament marking the 79th Union Day in Kyauktalonegyi. In the opening match, Htee Aung Khan Kyauk Ta Lone Twe Tan faced off against Naung Kar, with Naung Kar winning 9-0.
